THE STORY OF FOUNDER:

At age 19, Richard Hennessy left his homeland, Ireland. In France he enlisted in the army, avid for freedom. It was his first journey and the beginning of a quest. With the help of his uncle, an eaux-de-vie merchant settled in Flanders, Richard Hennessy humbly learnt the business. 1765: In the town of Cognac, ambitious and determined, he was now ready to found a Maison trading in eaux-de-vie. Overcoming difficulties, he wanted to make his undertakings last, faithful to the Hennessy family motto: Vi Vivo Et Armis, I live by force and arms. A cognac carries his name and his philosophy.
